RUT XII Scope

Themes from the fields of research Ruth XII described as given below:
1. Systems Development Division of the National, Sectoral and Regional
In this field of research proposals, which preferably is the fulfillment of criteria for interdisciplinary, integrative and strategic issues related to improving regional competitiveness. Interdisciplinary, systemic approach to integrating various disciplines. In keinterdisiplinan, reflected in the scientific perspective and the methodology used. Integrative, who studied the issue should be directed to find a comprehensive settlement and not biased in one sector or area, a holistic-systemic and sensitive to the connectedness among the aspects. Alternative form of research output for the formulation of public policies in enhancing regional competitiveness.
Strategic issues, the problem was approached by a strategic issue that has substantial leverage (leverage) is high, so the treatment provided will give broad impact. Some examples of such systems assessment: regional competitiveness improvement system, education system, a system of sustainable development, public health system, the system of national integration, Bioregional system (based regional development in a sustainable management of biological resources), a system of sustainable poverty alleviation, the national land system, and others.

2. Agriculture and Food Sector
Agriculture focused on activities that can utilize natural resources of Indonesia and the search for fundamental scientific breakthroughs to solve various problems in agriculture with the theme: (i) molecular markers (molecular marker) and analysis of the genome (genome analysis) of natural resources, particularly natural resource local biodiversity (indigenous Indonesian), (ii) transformation, transgenesis, and micropropagation of plants, (iii) Genetic and reproduction of livestock and fish, (iv) The interaction of plants / animals with microorganisms, and (v) food and feed technology for quality improvement and safety.

3. Health Sector
Health field is focused on efforts to address major public health problem in Indonesia as a double burden (double burden of diseases) associated with the re-emerging infectious diseases, the burden of degenerative diseases and malignancies, as well as a tendency (trend) changes in disease. Themes which could be covered, among other things:
a. Infectious diseases, in this case of tuberculosis, malaria and hepatitis;
b. Degenerative diseases, like diabetes, cardiovascular and joint disease;
c. Primary malignant diseases in Indonesia, such as breast and cervical cancer;
d. Nutritional diseases of nutritional deficiency and excess;
e. Reproductive biology associated with fertility and infertility, reproductive technologies, contraception and vaccines;
f. Discovery and development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostic kits.

Research proposals are prioritized using biotechnological approaches / molecular biology, genetics, and immunology with attention to "economic health impact" of research output.

4. Environmental Field

The study focused on the themes:
a. Biotechnology for the utilization of biodiversity of conservation areas in situ: bioprospecting of biodiversity for the development of agricultural productivity, forestry, fishery, animal husbandry and biopharmaceuticalindustry, including conservation mechanisms and patents;
b. Utilization of biodiversity components for pollution control programs (soil, air, water), environmental rehabilitation program that is damaged as a result of mining activities.

5. Fields of Marine, Earth and Aerospace
The study is expected to contribute to the development of science and natural resource management, with emphasis on research activities that contain themes:
a. Climate and Weather;
b. Water Resource Management;
c. Dynamics / Land Cover Change (Land Use Change);
d. Natural Hazard Mitigation;
e. Sea dynamics.

6. Transportation and Logistics Sector
Focused on the research systems, transportation facilities:
a. to maintain and improve transportation services, production of components and parts, increased efficiency, capacity building, service systems, data systems and information systems infrastructure and technical standards;
b. to improve public accessibility to transport services (facilities and infrastructure to remote areas, the design-build energy-efficient transportation and environmentally friendly, improving accessibility to the public).

7. Energy Sector
Energy sector is focused on the themes:
a. Energy Resources Conservation: Aimed at saving measures and the extension of the age of energy resource reserves, including methods of resource exploration and experimentation of new and renewable energy;
b. Optimization of Energy Resources Utilization: Focused on the problem of the generation, conversion, storage, transmission and distribution, and utilization for various purposes in order to guarantee a sustainable energy supply.
c. Extensification and diversification: Emphasized in an effort to explore new energy sources, including alternative energy that is the nature of renewable, environmentally friendly and in accordance with existing needs, particularly high impact on the demand and supply of national energy (eg coal, biomass, hydrogen fuel, biofuels , solar power, wind power, wave power, geothermal, etc.).

8. Manufacturing Sector

The scope of research fields emphasized manuacuring: f tr
a. Import-substitution component of reverse engineering;
b. Increase exports;
c. Development processes and products (must show positive aspects of techno-economic);
d. Innovative manufacturing management;
e. Manufacturing equipment to support the agro-industry.

9. Microelectronics and Information Sector

Research for the field of Microelectronics and Information focused on activities that support the development of e-govenment either directly or indirectly.

10. Field of New Materials (Engineering Materials)

Preferably research oriented to the problems of new materials that can provide strategic value - economical. The research field of new materials in the RUT XII more emphasis on the utilization of local resources, such as those associated with oil production technology and its derivatives, and the development of production technology to produce new materials (such as fuel cell components).
